Voltstorm Interview 27/01/21
MM: Can you tell us about your Band and who’s your biggest influences
Voltstorm are influenced by different bands, we have elements of power and epic taken from bands like Stratovarious, Rage and Helloween. Mixed with the aggression of NWOBHM and trash like Metallica, the result is this melodic fresh thing called Voltstrom.
MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
Generally we get inspired by real life events present or past and sometimes we imagine the future and stop and think “what if ?” and we write a song about it.
MM: What would you say is your Band's favourite song?
Well there are different opinions in regards to this matter, depending on who in the band you ask… Ivo would probably say No Surrender, John would probably say Rebel and Fred would say C.O.D.
MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2022
We have a UK tour starting on March 31st in London. We haven’t managed to secure any festival slots yet as we haven’t found a booking agent willing to work with Voltstorm….. So we are dealing with it in house with all the limitations this brings.
MM: What can we expect from Voltstorm live?
Volume and tons of it ! oh yeah and a massive drum kit ! We have worked relentlessly to be ready to finally go live and to be able to replicate the studio performance. Its going to Fantastic!
MM: What do you like best and worst about touring
The best thing is meeting the fans and making new ones along the way. Plus we get to see new places and spend quality time with the guys in the band doing what we love. The worst side of it are boring motorways and crappy services food.
MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies
Good question, I guess we are not much of a party band so we’ll probably work quite well with a bands like Gamma Ray, Megadeth and Airborne.
MM: Whats the most memorable concert you've been to (other than
As a band it’s all different but the two most memorable ones are Masters of Rock in Czech Republic and Whitesnake and Def Leppard at the O2 arena in 2016.
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far.
Getting to this point, sitting down and putting our views out for people to get to know who we are, it is quite mind blowing to us all to be able to have our music out there.
MM: Which are your Two favorite Albums of all time
Thats a tough one - if we really must choose then - Helloween walls of Jericho and Whitesnake Slide It In.
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching you?
I guess we have all been there, having the shakes backstage but Ivo summarises it in one sentence and we quote “ I was crapping myself, sweating like a dog, shaking!” Do we really need to say more ?
MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.
Megadeth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Rainbow
MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other Person
The man in black himself, Ritchie Blackmore.
MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?
Getting out there, spreading our music and building our fanbase.
MM: If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
Well there’s another good question, if these was the desire to do a cover it must be The Sentinel by Judas Priest. We really like its complexity and the individual challenges it brings for each one of us.
MM: Tell us why we should listen to your Band
If you’re looking for something fresh, not copycat and not just another metal band then you should give Voltstorm a chance.
MM: Four words to describe your Voltstorm
Powerful, Precise, Razor-sharp , genuine.
MM: Final Words for your fans and our readers
We can’t wait to see you on the road, we are really looking forward to hear you screaming and singing our rhymes !
