                                                                                          The Trousers Interview  12/07/2025

MM: Tell us about your band .. your influences and what took you down this genre of music
The Trousers is a hard rock/garage rock band, influenced by seventies rock n roll, punk and
proto-metal, like the Stones, the Stooges, Sabbath, AC/DC, and 90’s-00’s bands like The
Hellacopters or Queens of the Stone Age. It came naturally, I think from our second LP (“Soul
machine”, 2010) our style is unified: heavy riffs and memorable melodies with a vintage attitude.

MM:Are there any themes or messages you aim to convey through your music?
The music speaks for itself: it’s loud, energetic simple but smart. If you like it, it makes you wanna dig
deeper to its roots, and you will find these values that stand the test of time. I mean this kind of music is
always there in different forms: in the 60’s you had the Stones or The Doors, the 70’s it was everywhere,
you can name hundreds of bands, in the 80’s there was The Cult, Aerosmith, in the 90’s there were The
Black Crowes or Monster Magnet, in the 00’s there was The Hellacopters or Wolfmother, then came The
Rival Sons, etc. Rock n roll is about freedom, authenticity and being natural.

MM: What can fans expect from you in the near future—new music, tours, collaborations?
Yeah, we have just released a new single, “Second hand suicide”, from the upcoming seventh album,
“Necessary evil”. We have some gigs on the summer, in november there will be an album release show,
and in December our friends from Ostrava, Czehia, they are called Degradace will come to play with us in
our pre-New Years Eve party. Next year we might do some more shows together.

MM: Are there any dream venues or festivals you’d love to play?
There are some fine rock festivals around here: Bearstone in Croatia or Mighty Sounds in
Czehia, it would be great to perform there. For Wacken we are maybe not metal enough 😊
MM: What’s been your most memorable live performance so far, and why?
Maybe supporting MC5 in 2018, God rest Wayne Kramer’s soul, or Tygers of Pan Tang, 2024. The
venues, A38 Ship and Analog Music Hall in Budapest were all great, good sound, nice crowd, and we
played very well.

MM: How do you prepare for a show, both mentally and physically?
We are a band based on very strong group cohesion. This line up – Peter Locke on guitar, Andy Lazar on
bass, Sam Gulyas on drums and myself on guitar and vocals – has been together since 2017, and our
driver, Laci is a also a great guy. We hang around, listen to music, drink a few bears and having fun before
the shows.

MM:What emotions do you hope to evoke in fans when they watch your band live
Energy, joy, healthy aggression, freedom, togetherness. These are all there.

MM: Do you have any favourite pre-show rituals?
Sometimes we say, “Let’s go guys and show them what Chinese box is about!” This is from an old Bruce
Lee movie 😊

MM: How do you handle criticism or comparisons to other bands in the scene?
Fortunately we mostly get good criticism. But sometimes there are people who don’t like my voice
because it’s not a typical hard rock vocal, but that doesn’t make us worry. It took a long time to reach this
level that we are on now, and people who see us for the first time they are always very satisfied. I wish we
were on that level around 2010 when guitar music was more popular than now. At that time we had a
chance to play at some very good festivals, for example in Denmark, Belgium and Germany but we were
not fully ready for that,

MM: What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a band, and how did you overcome it?

Well, 2013 we had a chance to have Nicke Andersson from The Hellacopters to play a solo on our actual
record, “Freakbeat”. There was a guy at the Swedish embassy in Budapest, who was also a big
Hellacopters fan, and when he returned home to Stockholm, he talked to Nicke about the plan. Nicke said
yes, but after that nothing happened for a long time. We were running out of time, and started to give it
up. Then after a concert supporting Peter Hook & The Light in Budapest I went home at night and before
sleeping I took a look at my email, and Nicke’s letter with the solo attached was there! It was a glorious
moment in our history.

MM: Where do you see the band in five years, and what’s the ultimate goal for your music?
Hm... until 2030 I hope we will release two more albums 😊 still doing our club and festival shows. We
would like to support a bigger band on an entire tour somewhere in the west.

MM: Last song you listened to?
In the morning I listened to the new single by Foo Fighters, because Spotify advised me to, but I
didn’t like it too much.. Yesterday my friend came over and we listened to tow double vinyls that
I have just ordered: “Past Lives” by Black Sabbath, and “Revelations of the Insane”, a collection
of rarities by Trouble which just came out on vinyl.

MM:Tell us why we should check out your band
Hm... we are a classic rock n roll band with modern attitude, big sound and catchy songs, and
we always try to create albums which sound like collection of singles, so you don’t have to skip.
We also don’t have dull ballads 😊

MM:Final Words for your fans our readers
Music is the best way to discover yourself – so for this just dig deep into the fantastic treasures
of rock history and you will be amazed. Create your own world! When I was a high school
student I loved The Black Crowes, and I wanted to know where their music was coming from.
That’s how I discovered The Faces, Humble Pie, Allman Brothers, Sly & The Family Stone... So
if there is an actual band it worths to search for their influences. You can start from The Trousers
as well 😊
