Sorrows Path Interview 27/02/20
MM:Hi congratulations on your Album “Touching Infinity” how pleased are you with the response from the media
A:Hello and thank you very much! We are very pleased about the reviews worldwide. This time we had our best ratings ever but we also never had complaints about the feedback of our previous albums. From our first full album, the majority of the reviews were very positive and we were very pleased about them.
MM: How long did the Album take to complete and why the Album title “Touching Infinity”
A:It took at about a year because we selected to work in details about our recordings and then mixing and mastering. The main idea of “Touching Infinity” was the acquisition of self-knowledge and freedom that leads to harmony.
In contact with creation, beauty, compassion and respect in a world where destruction, ugliness, hatred and provocation unfortunately prevail. So, then you can really touch infinity…
MM: Where did you draw your inspirations and ideas from for the Album
A:Inspiration comes always from inside. Of course, musical education and influences are always there but you have to look inside and create something personal. The whole musical and lyrical philosophy reflects the personality, the thoughts and the sensitivity of the artist!
MM: What would you say is your favourite song on The Album today and why?
A:We love all of our songs! Otherwise, they would never have been included on our albums. But, we have some special affection about “Revival Of Feminine Grandeur”. This is heavy as hell but also quite diverse!
MM: There is a mixture of very talented musicans on the Album, how easy has it been to get everything together.
A:Honoured and grateful about your opinion! We just forget our egoism about the common goal. This is the only way to be…
MM:The Artwork is awesome as well will you have that framed on your wall?
A:Thank you very much! Nice idea, hehe. Well, the artwork and photography was done by Nikos Marko who is also known for his work with Rotting Christ.
MM: Plans tour and Festival wise for the year
A:We already performed live a lot for this album, so this is time for some recordings about the upcoming album. But we will never say no in some interesting live option for this year, too!
MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why?
A:The show of Solitude Aeturnus in 2006! We were waiting for them for a lot of years to visit Greece and the majestic thing was that we combined this with our first live performance after many years. We performed live on the same day, just before our doom mentors!
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with your musical career
A:To release 4 albums that totally represent us and we are not ashamed about them!
MM:Which are your Two favourite Heavy/ Doom Metal Albums
A:The two best doom albums are: “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus” from Candlemass and “Into The Depths Of Sorrow” by Solitude Aeturnus.
MM: How’s The Metal Scene in Greece
A:The Greek metal scene is really big, but we still have to change two important things. We should especially get rid of mimicry to foreign models that still afflict us and also improve our mentality.
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching u
A:The first live with Sorrows Path was some local live in Athens. Back in 1994, the sound equipment was tragic but the whole experience was more than majestic. When you are a young man, you feel this like a magical moment and that the world belongs to you!
MM :Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person
A:Ozzy Osbourne, our only God and doom father. He is one of a kind, nothing less.
MM:If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
A:Already did this for a “Metal Hammer” magazine compilation! We were one of the bands that covered songs from our favorite doom album “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus” and you can listen to this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3wb-J5XECc
MM:Tell us why we should buy “Touching Infinity”
A:We love our work so you have to buy this, hehe!
MM:Four words to describe “Touching Infinity "
A:Heavy, unique, true, romantic.
