Novacrow Interview 20/11/24
MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences
We are Novacrow, an alternative metal band from Liverpool, UK. Some of our
biggest influences include Type O Negative, Devin Townsend, Joan Jett, amongst
many many others
MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
We like to draw inspiration from stories, either pre-existing stories or brief stories we
make up. We also like to write about real life events and issues that mean a lot to us.
Our ideas can come from wherever, it could be a single melody that worms its way
into our heads or a particular chord progression, or we may even steal/adapt ideas
from songs we love.
MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?
Not sure if you mean pre-existing songs or our own songs, so we’ll answer both!
Pre-existing songs, it’s hard to speak for the whole band but if we had to pick one
then a safe bet would be ‘Love You To Death’ by Type O Negative. Out of our own
songs it’s really hard to pick, but again if we were going for the safe option then we’d
probably pick ‘Medusa Medusa’ off our debut album ‘Look At Me Now’
MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2025
We’re currently trying to build back some momentum with a couple of releases, so
we’ll probably be focusing on those for the rest of the year. We don’t currently have
any concrete touring/performing plans as of yet but things will always pop up!
MM: What can we expect from Novacrow live
An erection inducing performance guaranteed to make our parents proud.
We’re a very high-energy live band who only SOMETIMES relies on gimmicks. You
can never truly come to our shows expecting anything but a great time, so your
readers will just have to come to our shows to find out.
MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring
The endless banter and shenanigans. We’re very good at keeping ourselves
entertained on the road and we’re very good friends outside the band as well so it’s
always fun to hang out. We also love seeing and meeting all the people that come
down to our shows and support us, it’s always a blast getting to meet everyone!
MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies
Big shout out to Pulverise who we’ve done countless gigs with in the past and we’ve
always had such a great time with them! We’ve also just done a show opening for
Evil Scarecrow who we’ve played with a few times in the past and they’re such fun
and lovely guys! This band can be a lucky dip band of the readers choosing ;)
MM: Whats the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own)
and why
Thinking back to the gigs we’ve been to together as a band, we’ve always had a
great time anytime we’ve seen Devin Townsend, but the first time we saw him as
a band was an acoustic gig he did in Chester. We’re all big Devin fans and his
acoustic shows are just so much fun!
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with
Novacrow?
Probably producing our own debut album. We self produced the whole thing and
whilst it took the better part of almost 2 years to fully make from writing to mastering,
we’re very happy with how it turned out and are very proud of all the hard work that
went into it.
MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time
As a band, probably October Rust by Type O Negative and maybe… The Blackening
by Machine Head?
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to
have people watching you?
Trying to think back to our first show as a band, we just went into it with the mindset
of having a great time from the get go. Back then there wasn’t as big a metal scene
in Liverpool as there is now so it’s hard to remember whether or not the audience
enjoyed our set as much as we did but we still had loads of fun and that’s all that
matters!
MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.
Freddy had a flag of Machine Head’s “The Blackening” and KoRn’s “Follow The
Leader” albums in his room, Kitty must have had various band posters whilst Jonyx’s
room was probably barren and void of color or décor of any kind. Or it was absolutely
covered wall to wall with Avril Lagivne posters.
MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any
other person
Probably Satan and adolescent angst.
MM - Whats the most important thing to the band right now?
For us to have buckets of fun whilst doing the things we want to do. This band
should never become a chore for any of us.
MM: If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
Well it’s funny you should say that, because we’ve just released our BRAND NEW
SINGLE which is a fantastic cover of the Bee Gees classic ‘Tragedy’! Which you can
