                                                                                                     Misscore Interview 21/10/24

MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences

Misscore is a blend of rock with elements of metal, electronics, and goth, which is highlighted by the clean vocals. The band's second album truly showcases (will soon showcase – the release is coming up) this mix of genres and the diversity of musical inspirations from all the band members. As individuals, we each listen to different music and draw from various inspirations, which can be heard in Misscore's sound. One band we all listen to and love for their sonic style is Bring Me the Horizon. My dream (Natalie) is to one day produce an album with their producer, Zakk Cervini.

Misscore is often compared to Evanescence (or new Linkin Park), but when it comes to our inspirations, we don't model ourselves after them in any way. The comparison likely comes from having a female vocalist, rather than any direct influence.

MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from

Most of Misscore's songs are written and produced by Natalia and Mateusz (the vocalist and keyboardist/bassist), which is why you'll hear a strong presence of synthesizers and electronic elements in our music—these two have a particular fondness for those sounds.

It's hard to say where our ideas actually come from, as they just form in our heads. Sometimes they even wake me up at night, and I go to another room to record them on a voice recorder. My mind probably processes what I’ve been listening to throughout the day. :)

MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?

I have a few songs that I’m very sentimental about. If I had to choose the best Misscore song, it would be NEVER from the first album. The idea came to me in my apartment; it was only supposed to be a sketch, a demo, but it turned into a complete production in exactly 6 hours and 45 minutes, which was later recorded with better quality using live instruments and vocals. I couldn’t let go of it for the next few months.

MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2024

We have several exciting concerts planned for 2025. For 2024, I’ve scheduled a new release, music video recordings, and that's what I’m fully dedicating myself to. I also need to catch up on a few things – new merch designs, costumes, and of course, new songs. In 2025, we’d like to surprise our fans with an entirely new musical, sound, and light show. As for the tour, I will first plan it thoroughly, and then book the shows to get 101% out of them.

MM: What can we expect from you live

Currently, we play a lot of singles from the first album, but also almost the entire second, unreleased album. Those who were lucky this year could hear almost the whole thing live. Our show featured white costumes and lights. Now we’re working on something completely new, visually crazy. As soon as we test the prototypes, you’ll definitely see it all at our concerts.

MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring

When it comes to what I don’t like, it’s definitely the waiting. Unfortunately, some organizers can’t even provide shelter from the sun or cold, so after the soundcheck, the time passes very uncomfortably, because in a new place you don’t know where to go or what to do. It’s usually not worth renting a hotel: first, because of the costs, and second, by the time we get there, it’s usually time to go back. We turned this negative into a positive – we have a large van that, besides the gear, also fits camping equipment, board games, tables, and chairs, so in the summer we can easily camp out. It’s worse in winter, then we usually warm up in the car, a restaurant, or the venue, but we also meet the coolest people and exchange experiences with other bands.

In general, I’m an impatient person, and waiting is torture for me, so I always try to find something to do, even if it’s just sending emails.

What I like most is going to a concert and staying the night in that place afterward, exploring, and chatting with the rest of the band about future plans – there’s usually a bit of time for that.

MM: How hard is it to avoid fast food on the road

Fast food on tour is a tough subject, especially when most of the route is on highways. However, we try to stop at gas stations where there are often restaurants that offer something other than burgers and fries, which we’re really tired of after a few trips. Sometimes we bring leftover food or buy bread and toppings at a regular store, and then make sandwiches on the road. Once, we even took a camping stove with us and cooked between soundcheck and the concert. :)

MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies

I’d love to play support tours for bands like Asking Alexandria, The Pretty Reckless, or Evanescence. I love those vocalists, and we would fit well with their music. I’m sure we’d find plenty of common ground! And of course, the often-mentioned BMTH, but that would be a dream come true. :)

MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why

The best concert I’ve been to (besides BMTH hahaha) would be The Prodigy’s shows with their mind-blowing light display, Foo Fighters for Dave Grohl’s stage energy, and Lacuna Coil – Cristina is a phenomenal vocalist!

MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with

The years 2023 and 2024 have been very busy. We played many concerts, won several awards, finished our first album, and recorded the second. Every concert is a smaller or larger success for us.

I think the biggest achievement is that we didn’t kill each other with the amount of tasks we had to complete, like recording, the album release, and important decisions. ;)

MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time

Definitely Sempiternal by Bring Me the Horizon will be my favorite in this match. My second choice, based on sentiment and my beginnings, would be Walking on a Thin Line by Guano Apes.

MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to

Oh yes. I remember my first performance. It was my first band made up of four people (I was playing guitar then), and I don’t think we even had a name. We played almost an hour-long concert with covers of AFI, Billy Talent, and 30 Seconds to Mars at a school assembly. Apparently, the other kids liked it, although over time, I started to doubt that when I realized the acoustic conditions in the gymnasium and the loud drums right in the middle of it… I hope no one has trauma from that. :) But at that time, I felt like a true rock star!

MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.

I grew up in a time when pretty emo/scene boys were all the rage, like Oli Sykes from Bring Me the Horizon, whom I’ve been listening to since the first album. Then there’s Sandra from Guano Apes, Hayley Williams from Paramore, Amy Lee, Taylor Momsen…

MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any

I’ve been listening to rock and metal since I was a child, which means for about 20 years. It’s hard to say who had the biggest influence on the new music because sometimes you can’t even find inspiration in new bands, as everyone wants to create something new that no one else has done and completely bypasses the old metal veterans. I don’t listen to metal (unless it’s metalcore), but Linkin Park definitely changed the world. Their distinctive style and unique voice became an icon.

MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?

For me, the most important thing right now is refining all the details related to the music, album, merch, costumes, and everything else – the whole visual identity, along with new songs arranged into a specific, evolving show that engages the audience more than what we currently have.

I’m very curious about the new music since Maciej, the new guitarist, joined the band. I’m wondering which direction the new work will take, as the second album has a heavier sound than the first. Both albums, however, are quite toned down, feature lots of polyrhythms, and have a slightly dark vibe. The new guitarist has different sound inspirations, so something totally wild will definitely come out when we combine these ideas. I can’t wait to start working on the third album because it will be a collision of different musical worlds.

MM:If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?

I have so many ideas for my own songs that it’s hard for me to even start working on covers. Recently, we discussed doing a cover, and some of the suggestions included Psychosocial, one of the new Linkin Park songs, or… Nelly Furtado. I don’t know what we will ultimately choose, but there will definitely be a cover on our 2025 setlist.

MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band

If you listen to it in full, you'll want to buy it, but you can't force anyone to listen. ;)

We will appeal to fans of gothic rock, light metal, and bands like The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, Spiritbox, Lacuna Coil, Sevendust, and the new Linkin Park—basically everything with a female vocalist.

We definitely recommend keeping an eye on us, as new releases might surprise you and will certainly stick in your head even faster. ;)

MM: Four words to describe your band

crazy, no-holds-barred constructors (treat as 3 words ;) )

Final Words for your fans and our readers
