MAGEFA Interview 18/10/24
MM: Can you tell us about your Band and who your biggest influences are?
KG: I am Kevin Grams, vocalist, guitar player and songwriter of MAGEFA. The other members
are Kai Or on the drums, Nicolas Perez on the guitar and Andreas Muttscheller on the Bass
Guitar. Kai and I met in 2014 with our former bass player in Frankfurt and we started to make
music together. I was heavily influenced by Carcass in 2016 and wrote the first Demo “A peek
into human bodies”. My aim for further songwriting was to diversify the death metal sound we
had with different subgenres. Thy Art Is Murder, Death, Triptikon and many more became also
influences that are hearable in our songs.
MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
KG: Mostly from life itself and driven by emotions like anger and hate. Also with war raging not
so far away we have much to write about.
MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?
KG: Any time a song comes up it turns to be my new favourite, but the all-time classic for me is
“Exenteration”.
MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2025
KG: We have some gigs planned next year but we might go on a little late 2025 here in
Germany. We might get one or two festival slots as well.
MM: What can we expect from MAGEFA live?
KG: You can expect a high energy set from musicians who love the music they make and
interacting with the crowd.
MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring?
KG: Best are gigs. Worst is the planning before with things changing a few days before the gig.
MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies?
KG: For me it’s Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, Aborted.
MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why?
KG: I have to say Metallica's St. Anger tour with Slipknot as opener. Pretty much because
it was the first concert I have gone to when I was a kid.
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far?
KG: Reaching listeners all around the world.
MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time?
KG: The Sound Of Perseverance - Death, Kill the Cult - Decapitated
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people
watching you?
KG: I remember very well. Back when I was a kid my music school where I learned to play
guitar made these live events with their pupils. I played “Nothing Else Matters” from Metallica
on the guitar. My knees were shaky and I feared that I fuck up hard. Everything was fine and I
am glad to have experienced that.
MM: Growing up, which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall?
KG: Nirvana, Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Iron Maiden
MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person?
KG: Chuck Schuldiner
MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?
KG: Making music and having fun doing it.
MM: If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
KG: We aren't eager to cover at all. But if we would, maybe something like old Carcass. Just
because it's cool.
MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band?
KG: We are good. By supporting us we'll get even further and better. If you want to have some
solid death metal you should listen to us and support us by buying our merch.
MM: Four words to describe MAGEFA.
KG: Energetic, authentic, brutal, fast
MM: Final Words for your fans and our readers
KG: We are releasing another single called “Bombs Over Europe” coming out on October
20th. Definitely give it a listen. We are also in the songwriting phase for a LP coming out
late 2025. Make sure to follow us on social media and always stay up to date.
