Liv Sin
Title:Close Your Eyes
Label: Seek & Strike
Release Date: August 8, 2025
"Close Your Eyes" isn’t just an album, it’s a procession through rage-soaked catacombs and fragile defiance, fronted by a siren who doesn’t whisper but commands storms. Liv Sin claws through conformity with twelve tracks of unrepentant truth, each one dripping venom and velvet. You don’t listen to "Close Your Eyes" you survive it.
"Praise the Winners" opens proceedings. The gates swing open with a snarl. This is no anthem, it’s a backhanded hymn for the metal masses.
Jagrell spits syllables like they owe her blood. The guitars stomp with jackboot precision, a victory march for the bruised and bitter.
"Run" A flash flood of urgency. Riffs whip past like barbed wire in a hurricane. Liv is hunting ghosts, and she’s bringing gasoline. You can smell the panic. You can feel the chase. This one doesn’t ask, it demands escape.
The intense title track is up next, "Close Your Eyes" (ft. Lars Palmqvist), A duet forged in grief and intensity. Liv’s voice is a dagger kissed with fire; Lars is the echo in the smoke. Together, they bleed. It’s an intimate apocalypse, a sonic exorcism beneath moonlight and broken mirrors.
My favourite on here (well, today) is the killer "Louder", its Swagger is dipped in spite. Boots on amplifiers, defiance in every decibel. This track struts into the and kicks in the proverbial doors and smashes the mutha fucking windows!
While raising a middle finger is raised to everything tame. "Louder"? "I put my headphones on and pretend you're gone". Hellishly addictive as ever from these Swedes, and this is going to be belting live!
"It’s Not Your Life", sees these Swedes chew up expectations and spits back and is soaked in guitar venom. The chorus is amazing every note, a slashing delight. "Above the Line" Softer? Not weaker. The Metal Queen stands on the edge of vulnerability, holding a torch made of old regrets. The melody coils like smoke "around a battlefield, bruised, beautiful, and terrifying.
"The Shadow March": A funereal creep. Instrumental dread that creeps like footsteps on cold tiles. Barely a minute, but enough to make the hairs rise. "Shades of the Sun "Hope filtered through a stained-glass wound. Liv doesn’t offer salvation she offers strength in spite of it. The riffs shimmer, but the shadows still dance.
A close second favourite of mine is "Raven" the album’s gothic beast. Feathered fury with claws. Channelling Poe, storm clouds, and sorrow into a majestic snarl. It’s not flight it’s fall and fight.
Rebellion emanates from your speaker as "I Refuse" rocks up. The anthem for the untamed hearts. Jagrell stomps through the chorus like she’s burning bridges and blessing the ashes.
"The Mask" The truth behind every painted grin. Liv strips back with a scalpel made of verse. You feel the fear, the defiance, the mirror cracking this is theatre soaked in blood. Sadly we come to the end of this work of art as "Hold It Together " works its way into the room, Liv’s voice trembles, then roars. It’s collapse dressed in orchestration, resurrection wrapped in restraint. Pain has never sounded so epic and poetic!
Final Verdict This isn’t just "Close Your Eyes". It’s Open Your Soul. This band doesn’t offer comfort they offer confrontation.
Every track is a blade, every lyric a scar.
This album is venom with vision. A hymn for the haunted, an embrace for the broken, a shrine for the unapologetically alive.
