                                                                          Lesbian Bed Death Interview  02/08/20

MM: Can you tell us about your Band and who are your biggest influences?

[Mr Peach]: I originally started Lesbian Bed Death as a side project to pay homage to the Goth, Punk, and Heavy Metal bands I grew up with. I also love Horror movies so that had to be a running theme. I’d say the bands that influenced LBD the most would be The 69 Eyes, Alice Cooper, The Misfits, Danzig, The Sisters of Mercy, Guns ‘n’ Roses, and The Cult. I was also obsessed with the Return of the Living Dead soundtrack, which is certainly in the DNA of this band.

MM: When will you be releasing a new Album/EP?

[Mr Peach]: I’m hoping that we will finish recording the new album this year. Gigs for 2020 are pretty much a write off, so making an album and shooting new music videos will keep the creative juices flowing.

MM: Your Video "Flesh" is great. Were you worried about upsetting the PC brigade?

[Luci4]: It kinda comes with the territory when the inspiration comes from the horror genre; it’s all blood, guts, gore, scary villains...It wouldn’t be an LBD video if the PC brigade didn’t have something to say, to be honest.

[Mr Peach]: I’m not worried about upsetting anyone at all. In the worlds of Horror and Rock ‘n’ Roll, if you’re not upsetting someone somewhere, you’re probably doing it wrong. Besides, there are far more pressing matters in the modern world to get upset about. We’re just entertainers. It’s not our fault that their God doesn’t exist and they’re not getting any sex.

MM: Love the Band name. Were there any others you thought about?

[Mr Peach]: No, the name came to me when the band was just a loose concept in my head. It was perfect for what I wanted to do.

MM: Plans tour and festival wise for probably next year now..

[Mr Peach]: We’d love to tour. I think every band on the planet will be trying to tour next year, so it’ll be a busy one for fans and everyone in the music industry.

MM: Tell us what can we expect from Lesbian Bed Death  live

[Luci4]: Well, I’m assuming due to Covid-19 our mosh pits may be out of the question, but the raw passion & dark energy will still be front and centre at our gigs!

[Mr Peach]: Hearing damage. Sweaty armpits. If you’re lucky, we may even play the songs right.

MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies

[Luci4]: It would have to be Destroy Planets, Butcher Babies & Sepsiss

[Mr Peach]: My fantasy tour buddies would have to be Kiss, Alice Cooper and Ghost. I’m always a little nervous about meeting my idols in case they turn out to be twats.

MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why?

[Mr Peach]: That’s a hard question as I’ve been to so many. Seeing Body Count at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in the mid-90’s on their Born Dead tour was particularly amazing. The atmosphere when they played Cop Killer at the end of the show was something I’ll never forget.

[Luci4]: Going to see The Rasmus at Manchester Apollo. It was my first gig and I managed to meet and chat with Pauli and Eero before they boarded their coach.

MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far?

[Mr Peach]: I’m proud that the band still exists after all these years, and having built up such a loyal fan-base that keeps buying our albums and coming to the shows is a huge accomplishment.

MM: If you were stuck in isolation for a year which four "famous " people would you have with you and why

[Luci4]: I would enjoy being on a island with Maria Brink, Debbie Harry, Marilyn Manson & Yungblud, just so I can hear about their different experiences of tour life & how they go about creating their songs and videos...also hearing about their journeys to where they are today.

[Mr Peach]: Axl Rose, Glenn Danzig, Ian Astbury and Peter Murphy. I’m a huge fan of all of them, but they seem completely insane. If I could survive a year with those four, I could survive anything.

MM: Two favourite Albums of all time

[Luci4]: The Rasmus – Dead Letters, and Fleetwood Mac – Rumours.

[Mr Peach]: Probably Kiss’ Double Platinum and Judas Priest’s Metal Works ’73-’93. I guess that’s cheating because they’re compilations. If I can’t have those, I’ll pick Guns ‘n’ Roses’ Appetite For Destruction and Earth vs The Wildhearts.

MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching you?

[Mr Peach]: It was weird and embarrassing, probably because we were shit. I was a teenager and the band I was in wasn’t really a real band. We tried winging a gig without any finished songs. We were a total fucking mess.

[Luci4]: I had about 3 shots of Goldschläger cos my nerves kept getting the better of me, but as soon as the synth began and the dry ice pumped, I felt a wave of calm come over and I just smashed it and sent my stage fright packing. Hearing fans sing your lyrics back at you is the best drug ever!

MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall?

[Luci4]: I had The Rasmus, My Chemical Romance and Foo Fighters on my wall, with the odd pop band *The Backstreet Boys...she mumbles under her breathe*. Copying AJs vocals helped me find my range as a girl with a baritone voice.

[Mr Peach]: I had loads of posters. The majority were Iron Maiden, but I also had posters of Judas Priest, Kiss, Skid Row, Sepultura, The Wildhearts and loads of others. I still have most of them. We used some of my old posters in the bedroom scene in our ‘Son Of A Thousand Maniacs’ music video, and also in the living room in the ‘Born To Die On VHS’ video too.

MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock/Punk more than any other person?

[Mr Peach]: It’s between Alice Cooper and Tony Iommi, so I’d have to toss a coin.

MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?

[Mr Peach]: Probably growing our fan-base. I want us to reach as many people as possible.

[Luci4]: Getting back out to our fans at our gigs, obviously in a Covid-Safe environment. In the meantime, we are working hard on our next project. The tracks we've put to bed so far are, in my opinion, ‘goosebump-worthy’. With this new album.an ‘originals' album, I found working with Steve Lethal, Mr Peach & Aimee Violet a real kismet of an experience, as everything just seems to slip into place, and the resulting songs are more passionate & intense!

MM: If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?

[Luci4]: I would love to do a cover of Nine Inch Nails’ Closer, because it just appeals to me; the imagery behind the lyrics, and that beat.

[Mr Peach]: Funnily enough, we’ve just started working on a cover of Cliff Richard’s Devil Woman which we’ll probably give away to everyone who pre-orders the next album. At some point, I’d like to cover Turbonegro’s Sell Your Body To The Night, The Misfits’ Ghouls Night Out, or maybe 999’s Black Flowers For The Bride.

MM: Tell us why we should check out your Band

[Luci4]: We offer something different, you know, a taste of the dark and subversive. We’re tongue in cheek and addictive. We’re a break from reality and a journey into supernatural infused horror inspired Gothic Rock music. We're passionate about our fans, our videos & our gigs.

[Mr Peach]: We’re a bit different from the norm. I like to think that we write catchy songs and are a fun break from all of the angry or angsty Rock and Metal bands out there.

MM: Four words to describe Lesbian Bed Death

[Luci4]: Horror, Humour, Gory, Sexy

MM: 5 Questions:

1. Small intimate gig or festival [Mr Peach]: Festival [Luci4]: Small intimate gig

2. Vampires or Werewolves [Luci4]: Vampires, [Mr Peach]: Vampires.

3. Lesbians or Death [Luci4]: Lesbians, [Mr Peach]: Death. Lesbians don’t have Gene Hoglan on drums.

4. Jack Daniels or Beer [Luci4]: Jack Daniels, [Mr Peach]: Jack Daniels.

5. Nuns or Vampires [Luci4]: Vampires], [Mr Peach]: Vampires are probably more fun at parties. Then again…

Final Words for your fans and our readers

[Mr Peach]: Thank you for your support. We’re currently working on a new album so expect new songs and music videos before the end of the year. Make sure you follow us on social media and we look forward to seeing you on tour in the not-too-distant future.
