                                                                                                 Inherently Lost interview 28/02/23

MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences

-We started off as mainly a side project several years ago. I got bored being in “scene” type bands and needed a creative outlet for more experimental or progressive sound if you will. Our influences are all over the metal and rock spectrum but to name a few: Cradle of Filth, Fear Factory, Motley Crue, Static-X, Kataklysm, Black Sabbath, Fallujah, Epica, Nightwish, Eluveitie,Vision of Disorder, Bleeding Through, Heaven Shall Burn, Within Temptation, Evanescence, Suffocation, Dimmu Borgir, Septic Flesh, Lacuna Coil, Pink Floyd, etc.

MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from?

-Whatever we are feeling or thinking at that moment. The idea could start with a riff, lyrics or even a sample taken from a movie or show.

MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song?

-Right now it would be Unraveling Sanity. Just released in February it is the first song written with the new lineup.

MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2022?

-Regionally touring only in the semi-near future at the moment. We do have a couple pop up shows Metal & Mead March 25th in Beach City, (OH), April 14th in Cleveland(OH) with Detest The Throne, and July 22nd in Youngstown(OH) with the Breezeway. Definitely booking more at the moment.

MM: What can we expect from Inherently Lost live?

-Visually we recently upgraded our live shows with not one but two almost nude little people in full body corpse paint jamming tribal beats on a couple floor toms. Sonically Inherently Lost takes the listener on a journey of apocalyptic visions as well as some dark personal truths of mental health and life experiences.

MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring?

-We have not toured together in this band. With my previous experience I would say traveling to different destinations every day. The worst would be breaking down at 4am on a highway in the middle of nowhere only to get up and running to break down a couple days later an hour away from home..lol

MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies?

-I like this question, so many bands that we love to name a couple right now I would say Static-x, Slipknot, and  If they were still around I would say IWRESTLEDABEARONCE.

MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own)

and why?

-I would have to go back to Ozzfest 2004. Not only the best, but the heaviest lineup that I saw at the Ozzfest’s back then. I would crowd surf quite a bit back then and I had my tongue pierced at Ozzfest 2003, it's the only piercing I still have.

MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with Inherently Lost?

-I would say releasing the new single Unraveling Sanity (streaming on all sites.) We do have the Our Last Midnight Ep out that was released the same week the world shut everything down in March of 2020.  We will be finishing up the album Art of Corruption by fall of this year, that is going to be sweet, can’t wait.

MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time?

-Ill give you my top 5 in no particular order: Pink Floyd -The Wall, Nothingface -An Audio Guide to Everyday Atrocities, Vision of Disorder -Imprint, Hatebreed -Satisfaction is the Death of Desire.

MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have

people watching you?

-Absolutely, my first band was called Probable Hate Cause. We played this outdoor festival that had 2 stages 30+ bands called Local Flow. We were only 1 out 4 metal/hardcore bands that played the rest were rock or cover bands. We had a pretty good pit cuz all our party friends were there, I was rocking out so hard I tripped over my chord and fell backwards…lol

MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.

-Soulfly, Tool, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Metallica etc.

MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other

Person?

-I would have to go with Black Sabbath first of course, then Metallica.

MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?

-Finishing the new album while still playing shows.

MM:If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?

-Funny you should ask, we have already covered and released Nymphetamine by Cradle of Filth, an instrumental remake of Requiem for a Dream, both on the Our Last Midnight Ep.. I just finished recording keyboards for our Motley Crue cover of the song Red Hot. Due to be released at the end of March.

MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band.

- If you are tired of carbon copy “scene” bands, then you’ll enjoy our new single Unraveling Sanity. That song is different from anything else we have done, the best way I could describe it is IndustrialCore.

MM: Four words to describe Inherently Lost?

Final Words for your fans and our readers.

-Melodic, Brutal, Symphonic, Aliens. If you haven't already, give Unraveling Sanity a spin, stay tuned for the next several singles leading up to the Art of Corruption release. These songs are strange to say the least.

-Mark Moats Inherently Lost/Vocals & Keys.
