                                                                      Hollow Zoo Interview 17/08/2025

MM: Tell us about your band .. your influences and what took you down this genre of music

The band is called Hollow Zoo, we are a metal band, that likes to blend a lot of different genres of
rock and metal together. We never really set out with a certain genre in mind, we just wanted to
write songs and see where they took us. As far as influences we are all from different musical
backgrounds so our influences range from EDM to Metal to Jazz and even Rap music.

MM: Are there any themes or messages you aim to convey through your music?
I think every song has its own theme or story to tell. Overall, we just want to make good music that
makes people want to jump around and let all their stress and emotions out.

MM: What can fans expect from you in the near future—new music, tours, collaborations?
All of the above. We are working on tour dates for 2026, Our first full album releases in this month
on the 9 th and we will have several new music videos dropping. We also have a comic book which
you can get free when you buy our album. We will have a package featuring the album, a t shirt and
the comic available on our website later this month

MM: Are there any dream venues or festivals you’d love to play?
A couple venues we’d love to play would be The Greek theatre in Berkeley CA and The Red Rock
amphitheatre in Denver CO.
As for festivals, we’d love to play Waken but we’d also love to play at Aftershock as that one would
be a homecoming for a couple of the band members.

MM: How do you prepare for a show, both mentally and physically?
All of us prepare differently. For some of us, performing is something we have done for a long time.
We have a routine but really it’s more about manging our excitement. We love playing live but it can
be easy to get too amped up, so personally I like to do some simple warm-ups to get myself focused.

MM: What emotions do you hope to evoke in fans when they watch your band live
Fun, I know that isn’t any emption really but that is the truth. Our songs range quite a bit
emotionally so we hope that they go on a bit of a journey but also we just want the people watching
us live to be entertained and have a good time.

MM: Do you have any favourite pre-show rituals?
This is the part where were supposed to make up some crazy thing we do that shocks everyone but
honestly were kind of boring in that regards. No pre-show rituals or communing with the dead, just 5
people with too much built up excitement ready to put on the best show we can.

MM: How do you handle criticism or comparisons to other bands in the scene?
I don’t think anyone in the band cares about criticism or comparisons. People are always going to
have an opinion about everything. Most of us stopped caring about that a long time ago. Personally,

I find the comparisons to other bands are not offensive at all it’s just the way humans are wired. We
are comparison engines at our core.

MM: What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a band, and how did you overcome it?
Our biggest challenge has been getting prepared to play live shows. We wrote and recorded the
album last year but not all of us were living in the same area of the country. We also added a couple
new members this year so getting everyone dialled in was a challenge but we made it work and we
are excited about the live versions of the songs we have prepared to play for our fans.

MM: Where do you see the band in five years, and what’s the ultimate goal for your music?
I think in 5 years we will have quite a decent catalogue of not only music but other media, including,
our comic book, music videos and some other things we have in the works. Our ultimate goal is
really just to create the most epic music and media we can and hopefully that is something people
are into and enjoy.

MM: Last song you listened to?
Alive by Seven Hours After Violet

MM: Tell us why we should check out your band
You know I’m not great at the whole self-promotion thing but here are a few quotes about our music
that I think say it for us:
“Filth box is is intense, melodic, cunningly crafted, and undeniably addictive to
listen to.”
‘Never Do What You Say’ takes their brand of hybrid rock and metal and
throws it into overdrive, delivering a sonic punch that'll leave you reeling”
A rampaging assault at liars and demagogues everywhere"
