                                                                                       Fire The Humans  Interview  08/02/2026

MM: Tell us about your band .. your influences and what took you down this genre of music

My background was always in a more aggressive sound, rock bands and fronting bands. Fire the Humans was the other side for me. The fish that swims upstream where the it's more about songwriting, melody and feel vs rocking out with a band. I've always appreciated solo artists that did not hold themselves within boundaries like Prince or Post Malone. Although I've been influenced by singer/sonwriters like Jay Buchanan from Rival Sons too. Best vocalist on earth in my opinion.

MM:Are there any themes or messages you aim to convey through your music?

Just authenticity. For instance, the new single 'Burned Alive' was written around an evening with my wife and how beautiful she looked. I hope others can close their eyes and  see what I see.

MM: What can fans expect from you in the near future—new music, tours, collaborations?

The goal for 2026 is start by releasing this new single 'Burned Alive', then another single in March and continue every month until there's a steady stream of new music out there for people to listen to. Live shows and tours are always something to explore if there's a fit.

MM: Are there any dream venues or festivals you’d love to play?

UK, Sweden and Australia always have some great venues and I'm hoping to play them all! The US has incredible venues as well.

MM: What’s been your most memorable live performance so far, and why?

There was a SOLD OUT show played in 2017 in ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI that was a lot of fun. Wall to wall people, the room was electric and the overall feeling in the room was incredible.

MM: How do you prepare for a show, both mentally and physically?

Flow of the set list is important, a ton of rehearsals to all be aligned, drinking the right things, eating the right things and of course building up cardio to help sustain you throughout a show. I also listen to a lot of meditation music to calm my brain and I also ready passages from my Bible to remind myself that I'm not the center of the world. It's not all about me. Humility is a super-power.

MM:What emotions do you hope to evoke in fans when they watch your band live

There's nothing quite like a live show show. Watching fans light up, they're excited, I'm excited, singing, dancing, etc... it's incredible. Music is something personal to everyone, so I want them to see what THEY picture in their own minds when they listen to Fire the Humans. Let go and be free.

MM: Do you have any favourite pre-show rituals?

I drink tea, pray and listen to meditation music. Staples to a good show.

MM: How do you handle criticism or comparisons to other bands in the scene?

All of my peers and friends are predominantly 'rock' bands and 'rock' guys, so when I first launched Fire the Humans, it was like sandpaper to them. lol .. I knew that if they listened a few times they'd get it, which many of them did. It's art and you have to be open to others not seeing the beauty of your painting. That's also what makes 'fans' special. A room full of people that see the beauty, and we can all share the experience together.

MM: What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a band, and how did you overcome it?

As amazing as a band can be, laughter, writing, friendships, live performance moments etc... being in a band unfortunately comes with log jams and differences of opinions on sound, direction, words, titles, and everything in between. In a band environment, my suggestion is choose your mates wisely and choose your battles. Fire the Humans is a solo project, so there's no hassle. It's freedom.

MM: Where do you see the band in five years, and what’s the ultimate goal for your music?

Music is something I'll create forever, as it doesn't have an age limit. In 5 years I hope to have built more in my musical catalog that people can enjoy. Possibly one day my great grandkids will say 'whoa!...'

MM: Last song you listened to?

'Hulu Girl' by The Neighborhood

MM:Tell us why we should check out your band

Fire the Humans is an honest, original, authentic project based in the United States. This music is providing heartfelt and soul lyrics through a raspy voice with moments of falsetto feeling.

MM:Final Words for your fans our readers

Thank you. For those Fire the Humans music lovers across the globe that take the time to listen, read lyrics, hum, dance, tap your foot or share it with someone else... THANK YOU. This was all written for YOU.
