Drenched 25/06/2024
MM: Can you give a brief introduction to your band Drenched
We are a 4 piece nu-grunge band from the North East of England, inspired by the music of the 90s and 00s nu-metal and grunge scene.
MM: What would you say is your favorite song on the EP today and why.
It’s too hard to pick a favourite, because each song has different parts in them that I love. A part that sticks out would be the breakdown of (in)sane, as it features vocalist and good friend Ben Smith, the lead singer in Negatives.
MM: Tell us your plans tour and festival-wise for the year
We have just opened the Veritas festival at trillions in Newcastle the past weekend, we have a couple gigs in our hometown Berwick-upon-Tweed on the 12th July and 10th August. Then we have our EP release show on 24th of August at Zerox in Newcastle, with support from some very good bands.
MM: What’s the weirdest venue you’ve ever played?
I’d like to stay away from using the word ‘weird’ as that can cast the wrong light on a venue.
However the coolest venue we’ve probably played is Anarchy Brewery, being apart of Crypt Fest (now Venom Fest) twice. The whole event was amazing both times, and we made some really good friends at the same time!
MM: Who would be the ultimate band to share a stage with
We all have such similar yet different tastes in music, this would vary from member to member. So if we pick 4 (one for each member), it would be either Tool, Karnivool, Superheaven or Deftones.
MM: With so many bands out there how hard is it to get noticed these crazy days
The competition for recognition is wild. There are so many great bands right now, especially up here in the North East. What’s great about all these bands is that they all have their own unique sound. So we aren’t necessarily competing with each other, more so trying to get as much exposure as we can. The ideal situation is that we all take off!
MM: If there was a made up song about yourself what would it be called
What have I forgotten
MM:What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
I got a speeding ticket for doing 71 mph in a restricted speed zone set to 60mp for air quality on the M1. Mental.
MM: What superpower would you choose for yourself for one day
Gotta be flight, just zooming about the place. Class.
MM:Tell me the last song u listened to
Threads - Negatives
MM: Four words to describe Drenched
Balanced. Riffs. Atmosphere. Committed.
Five fast questions
1. Vinyl or digital
Cassette
2. small intimate gig or festival
Can’t choose, both are great.
3. Beer or Fish and chips
Chippy min howay
4. Saint or Sinner
Well, suppose the speeding ticket makes me a sinner, in the biblical sense.
5.Sunak or Kermit the frog
Because of the lack of bone structure in Kermit, Sunak would probably win an arm wrestle.
Final words for your fans our readers.
Thank you for your continued support. We all have different backgrounds, but we all love music. We as a band are trying to contribute our 20p to the world. If you like our music, tell your friends, enemies and people you largely feel ambivalent towards. We love you all. Facebook
