COLLECTED Interview 14/02/2022
MM: Can you tell us about your Band and who’s your biggest influences
We’re a 5-piece modern metal band from the UK, vocalist Liam Brazitis, guitarist & songwriter Charlie Day, drummer Artis Upitis, guitarist & composer Harry Barratt (aka ‘H’) and finally, the bands most recent addition, bassist Chris Day. We have lots of influences from all different genres which we try to combine in our music, but I’d probably say our biggest ones are Devin Townsend, Coheed and Cambria, Kanye West, Vulfpeck and Contortionist.
MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
It’s hard to say really, for me I’ll just keep jamming on guitar until something catches my ear then I’ll build on it from there, we’ll also jam at practices on occasion, and ideas will develop from that. Basically, we just improvise until it sounds cool ha-ha
MM: What would you say is your Band's favorite song?
That’s a toughie, I’m not sure it’s collectively our favourite song but Dark Water by Agent Fresco is a song we all enjoy.
MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2022
No tours yet but we are playing a festival called Cosmic Puffin on April 30th in Mersea Island which we’re looking forward to.
MM: What can we expect from Collected live?
Energy, a phat sound, changing dynamics, swirling pools of translucent thought and five people who love doing what they do. MM: What do you like best and worst about touring We’re yet to tour, but from what I’ve heard it’d have to be the lack of sleep and showers.
MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies
Pantera, Slipknot and Loathe.
MM: Most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own)
Sleep Token at Colchester Arts Centre, it was absolutely mind blowing.
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far.
We were recently reviewed in Metal Hammer for our first official EP “Say When” and scored a 7/10, it’s still so surreal to us as we all grew up reading Metal Hammer.
MM: Which are your Two favorite Albums of all time
I’d have to say Dark side of the moon by Pink Floyd and Ocean Machine by Devin Townsend
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching you?
It was nerve racking but at the same time exhilarating, after getting through the first couple songs I can remember really enjoying it and haven’t looked back since.
MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall. Guns n Roses, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Machine Head and Jimi Hendrix.
MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other Person Probably Toni Iommi, his riffs and song writing still inspire rock and metal fans to this day.
MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?
To put on the best shows we can and make sure whoever comes out to see us it was worth their time.
MM: If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
Black or white by Michael Jackson, feel like it would be something people wouldn’t expect, and it would be so fun to play.
MM: Tell us why we should listen to COLLECTED
You won’t be bored, where we have a variety of genres woven into our music no song really sounds the same, we like to think there’s a bit of something for everyone. So, check it all out, I’m sure you’ll find a track your vibe with!
MM: Four words to describe your Band:
