Bridge The Gap interview by Chad Jensen 4.02.24

MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences
Bridge The Gap is a melodic punk band heavily influenced by the ‘90s. Our biggest influences
are bands like Bad Religion, Descendents, Pennywise, NOFX, and Strung Out.

MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
Inspiration comes from everyday life. What we’re grappling with, what we’ve been through, and
no small amount of self-talk. In many of our songs, we’re basically talking to ourselves, hoping
the message, I guess, sinks in. Other songs, we’re getting something off our chest. And we
are, of course, also driven by the sad state of affairs on a political and social scale.

MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?
If you’re talking about Bridge The Gap fans, My Creation seems to be the hands-down favorite.
We love it, too. Songs are much like children. You don’t really love one more than another.
Internally, as dads, I’d guess the one song we all have in common as a favorite is
Whippersnapper. It’s a kind of sonic last will and testament to our kids.

MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2023
Bridge The Gap will be announcing some 2024 tour dates soon and other live shows. We’re
playing the Power Chord Guitar Fest in Orem, Utah, on July 27.

MM: What can we expect from you guys live
Loud, fast, mostly in-tune renditions of our songs. Energy.

MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring
There’s not much about touring that I love. I’m a bit of a homebody. But there’s nothing like
sharing the stage with your best friends, playing the music that bonds you together for a live
audience, whether it’s a new audience or fans, in a different city each night. It’s definitely one
of the spices to the music life.

MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies

Tough question because Bridge The Gap formed in the summer of 2022. We were all lin a
band for 10 years together in the ‘90s-’00s and toured with a lot of bands I could mention. BTG
hasn’t toured enough yet but we would love to tour with Thiev (New Jersey), Deviates (L.A.),
One Square Mile (L.A.), Chaser (Orange County), and Authority Zero (Arizona). That’s more
than three, I guess.

MM: Whats the most memorable concert youve been to (other than your own) and why

My first show. Summer of ‘95. Pennywise. The show was life-changing and we got
backstage after the show and kicked it with the band.

MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with
Bridge The Gap has only been a public entity since January of 2023. We formed in the
summer prior, recorded our album Secret Kombinations at The Blasting Room, then started
creating social media accounts and finding a record label to release the album. That ended up
being the great folks at People Of Punk Rock Records. Since then, our album has been
streamed hundreds of thousands of times and people seem to be a bit stunned that our social
media following is already approaching 50K. All that stuff is so rad and we pinch ourselves all
the time. But the biggest accomplishment was completing the recording and production of our
album. Lots of hard work.

MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time
Bad Religion Process of Belief and Pennywise Unknown Road.

MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people
watching you?
Yeah. I may have passed out due to stage fright. That definitely happened once, though I don’t
recall if it was my first show. Nervous is the best way to describe the first time I ever performed
live with my band.

MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.
All those mentioned above and more.

MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person
Tony Iommi.

MM - Whats the most important thing to the band right now?
Making good music.

MM: If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
Probably a Jim Cherry song (RIP). We’re kicking around ideas but one of his unreleased songs
before he passed called Crossroads is a contender.

MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band
You shouldn’t unless you want to. But if you like fast, melodic punk with metal influences and
anthemic choruses, with a MONSTER drummer, you’ll want to check out Bridge The Gap.

MM: Four words to describe your band
Overcome the f*cking obstacle

MM:Final Words for your fans and our readers

If you’ve given Bridge The Gap even one minute of your time, thank you. To all our fans,
we love you and look forward to delivering to you a great follow-up to Secret
