Dig Two Graves Interview 24/05/20
MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences
Jaybee: We’re a band from New Jersey, USA, and we play heavy music with a lot of orchestral and electronic elements. We’re very inspired by bands like Make Them Suffer, Kero Kero Bonito, and Dir En Grey.
Kenny: Big agree and also Fall Out Boy.
MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
Jaybee: Mostly from anime, novels, and paintings.
Kenny: Josh writes everything, I just add blast beats and unnecessary fills.
MM: What would you say is your band’s favourite song ?
Jaybee: I like Wick a lot.
Kenny: Wick or So Below.
MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2020
Jaybee: Well we were going to try to play a bunch of shows locally, and try to tour hopefully in the summer, but this coronavirus is a real jerk.
MM: What can we expect from Dig Two Graves live
Jaybee: We bring a lot of sauce, a lot of energy, and a lot of unnecessary bass drops. And also we always look dummy cute.
Kenny: We always bring the hottest riffs and freshest clothes.
MM: What do you like best and worst abt touring
Jaybee: I don’t like sitting in the car for a long time, never have. But everything else about it is all I wanna do with my life. I like travelling to new places with my friends and playing the music we write together.
Kenny: Traveling to new places and playing new venues. Being away from home for a long time doesn’t sound like fun though.
MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies
Jaybee: Kero Kero Bonito, 100gecs, and The Gazette
Kenny: Make Them Suffer, System of a Down, Weezer
MM: What's the most memorable concert you've been to (other than your own) and why
Jaybee: There’s been so many, it’s hard to narrow it down. Both times I saw the Gazette were unforgettable, same with both times I’ve seen Kero Kero Bonito. Also every time I’ve seen Japanese Breakfast has been a really great experience. I also recently got the rare opportunity to see Dir En Grey in NYC, and it was one of the best nights of my life.
Kenny: Seeing Make Them Suffer in NYC for the first time was easily one of my favorite shows. They brought so much energy and played only the hottest tracks.
MM: What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far with Dig Two Graves
Jaybee: We have sold out the illustrious Allstar Music Empire on multiple occasions now. A dream come true.
Kenny: That and the release of our EP Deathwish.
MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time
Jaybee: There’s too many to name to be honest, Bonito Generation by Kero Kero Bonito is easily my favorite, but the second one can change depending on when you ask. At the moment, probably Dix Infernal by Moi Dix Mois
Kenny: Infinity on High - Fall Out Boy, and Worlds Apart - Make Them Suffer
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people watching you?
Jaybee: The first time I played live, it was a really tiny stage, and I was stuck behind a big monitor, and I couldn’t even see anyone, so there was really no stagefright. I remember it being really dark though, and I couldn’t see my fret markers and it really threw me off.
Kenny: I enjoyed playing live the second our first set started. It’s a little weird for a second when you see people looking at you but I didn’t mind.
MM: Growing up which Bands posters did you have on your bedroom wall.
Jaybee: Asking Alexandria, August Burns Red, A Day to Remember, and Motionless in White. Very emo of me.
Kenny: Never really had any posters except for a Guns N’ Roses poster that ended up on my wall just because it somehow showed up in my house. Ironic because I don’t like them at all.
MM - Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other person
Jaybee: Definitely MC Ride.
Kenny: Little Richard, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry
MM - What's the most important thing to the band right now?
Jaybee: Trying to write this big, dumb album.
MM:If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
Jaybee: We cover I’ve Seen Footage by Death Grips live sometimes. I really want to cover a Kero Kero Bonito song in the future though. We’re thinking Trampoline maybe.
Kenny: I’ve been saying we should cover 27 by Fall Out Boy
MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band
Jaybee: I really don’t care if you do.
Kenny: Heavy and pretty.
MM: Four words to describe Dig Two Graves
Jaybee: Cute, spunky, fresh, and organic.
Kenny: Couldn’t have said it better myself
