Sweden has an amazing pedigree for Heavy Metal and Rock bands, and one of the top bands without a doubt has to be Civil War they are a six piece outfit that will take your breath away with every chord and beat of the Metal drum, featuring former members of Sabaton and Astral Doors the band return too dramatic effect with "Gods And Generals" its an epic tale of histories battles and blood soaked fields, in no way are the band glorifying some of the most tragic and horrifying episodes known to man, they tell of the stories,the bravery, and heroism , for people with an interest in history the whole album with a soaring Heavy Metal delivery is superbly well done , simply sublime.

 

Opening with "War of The World" its an introduction to the albums battle hardened content, with athletic and sing-along choruses as the past is brought back to life, Nils Patrik Johansson's vocals catch you and have you hooked instantly as the keyboards , drums and guitars race and flow into the fields of war.

There's so many gems contained through out , we are taken to Cuba and the "Bay of Pigs" then to the glens and mountains of Scotland as the tale of William Wallace unfolds in striking prose.

Their are Bagpipes galore as "The Mad Piper" story unfolds and lands you on the Normandy beaches as Lord Lovats Piper Bill Millin played  the Bag  pipes on Sword beach while bullets flew and his comrades fell all around him.

Everything thing is so tastefully arranged and delivered on this opus "Tears from The North" has deep choral qualities, its a slower tune with some spine tingling guitarmanship as the Viking hordes set sail to battle and to conquer, its a bombastic piece.

So you get the general idea ! I wont go on any more check the Album out !
